ELECTIVE OPTIONS

Over the course of meeting the requirements for the Master of Architecture degree, students  complete a minimum of fifteen credits of elective coursework.  The elective courses are advantageous in enhancing or broadening one's professional studies, focusing on an area of specialization and/or augmenting preparation for the graduation project.

A range of electives are offered each term, dependent on faculty interest and availability.

Students are encouraged to consider course offerings outside the discipline of architecture, seeking out courses that supports individual academic objectives.

The following guidelines should be kept in mind with respect to elective coursework:
.  six credits of approved coursework at the 300 and 400-level may be taken towards the Master of Architecture degree with the remainder being at the graduate level
.  electives are generally to be outside one's previous discipline

Should a student wish to have considered for elective credit a course that is of the student's previous discipline, that student would write to the Program Chair and include a copy of the department's posted description of the course and the rationale for including that course within the student's elective coursework.

Along with the written request, a student must also attach a completed change of registration form available at the following link for signature by the Chair.

If approved, the form will be signed and returned to the student's mailbox.

A maximum of two independent studies may be taken for elective credit.  A document outlining the protocol for establishing an independent study  is accessible on login.
