MASA POLICIES
PROGRESS THROUGH THE MASA PROGRAM
At the end of each term, a student is expected to fill in the MASA Program Report [see attachment below] and submit to their advisor for their signature. The purpose of this form is to track satisfactory progress through the program and that the student's trajectory is being completed in a timely manner.
At the end of each term, a student is expected to fill in the MASA Thesis Proposal [see attachment below] and submit to their advisor for their signature. The purpose of this form is to keep an updated summary of a student's thesis proposal on file.
SUBMISSION OF THE THESIS
GRADUATE STUDIES SUBMISSION
Subsequent to the thesis defense, MASA students are required to submit an approved, unbound, single-sided paper copy of the defended thesis to the Faculty of Graduate Studies according to guidelines set out by the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
ARCHITECTURE READING ROOM SUBMISSION
Once the thesis had been accepted by Graduate Studies, an additional unbound copy of the thesis on archival quality acid-free paper is required to be submitted to the Architecture Reading Room along with the related binding fee.
E-copy format
In addition, an e-copy format is also required for submission. On a clearly marked CD or DVD, place the following documents:
1 a .pdf document of the entire Thesis
2 all images and drawings included in the report submitted as high-resolution .tiff files
3 a text document with the thesis title, your name and the thesis abstract
The CD or DVD must be contained within a jewel case and submitted to the Reading Room at the same time as the hard copy of the thesis.
Labelling
One the case: a 1" x 3" label contaiing the following information
. student's last name, first name
. title of report
. copy number and number of copies [e.g. 1 of 2, 2 of 2]
On discs in permanent marker:
. student's last name, first name
. degree to be awarded e.g. M.A.S.A.
. month and year of submission [e.g. October 2008]
. copy number and number of copies [e.g. 1 of 2, 2 of 2]
. title of thesis
Supporting Documentation
Thesis Receipt
Once all thesis submission requirements have been met and the report has been accepted by the Architecture Reading Room, a receipt is provided as proof of completion. Three completed copies of the thesis receipt should accompany the unbound thesis. A copy is provided to the student, the Architecture office, and one is kept at the Reading Room. Please complete this form and bring three copies to the Architecture Reading Room when submitting the thesis.
Reading Room Authorization
The signed form provides the Architecture Reading Room with permission to make the thesis available for reference and study, and also stipulates the conditions for copying the thesis for scholarly purposes.
One copy of this form must be signed and submission with the thesis.
