Two copies of official Transcripts from ALL post-secondary institutions the applicant has attended, in the original language with certified translation, must be sent to us directly by those institutions. Transcripts received from the student, even in a sealed envelope, are NOT considered official.

If the academic records are in a language other than English or French, you must arrange for certified translations to be attached. Official, original or certified copies of the original records must be received in envelopes sealed and endorsed by the issuing institution. Please review the Faculty of Graduate Studies website that explains this.

Three letters of reference must be sent directly to the Landscape Architecture program from individuals who are familiar with your academic and / or professional work. We require at least two academic references, preferably three, from full time faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor or above. There are two ways your referees may submit letters of reference for you.

1.) By paper with a paper reference or a personal letter of recommendation, which needs to be signed. All letters of reference should be sent directly to the program office by your referees and signed across the seal of the envelope.

2.) By using the UBC online reference system. Your referees will receive an automatice email asking them to provide a reference report on your behalf with a link to the online application system. The online reference system uses the email addresses you entered in the "Referees" section of your online application. IF your referee is using the online reference system plesae let your referees know that the text box for filling in comments is expandable. Your references may also copy and paste from an existing letter or attach a letter. Your referees do not need to submit a paper copy of their recommendation for you if they are using the UBC online reference system.

Notification of Acceptance
Some applicants who meet admission requirements may not be accepted because of limitations in the number of spaces available in the Program; 3- 6 Students are selected for the MASLA Program each year. All admissions, in addition to receiving general admission to the Program, MUST also be approved by the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Students accepted for admission who subsequently find they are unable to attend must reapply for admission at a later date.
