MISSION STATEMENT

The Landscape Architecture Program at the University of British Columbia prepares the next generation of landscape architects for careers responding to the urgent human and environmental issues of our times. Our program cultivates enduring professional, environmental and aesthetic knowledge and values; intellectual, creative and technical skills; and a lifelong commitment to learning and leadership necessary to design sustainable, beautiful, resilient landscapes with the power to transform society.

Program faculty share a deep commitment to the integrity, quality and stewardship of the built and natural environment of British Columbia. We fully support and thrive on this region’s commitment to sustainability and design. Together with our students, we explore the diverse dimensions of that commitment through research, scholarship, creative practice, and professional education opportunities based in the rich learning laboratory of this unique west coast landscape.
