DIGITAL JOURNALS
SALA now has a collection of digital journals which can be accessed at any time through the Slide Scanner computer station in the Architecture Reading Room. These digital journals use the Zinio Reader to open and browse the publications. The Zinio Reader is limited in the sense that it may not allow for printing or screen capturing of the pages of the publication. In order to browse the digital publications, you must be authenticated into the SALA subscription with Zinio. The instructions below take you through the simple login process so that you may browse the digital publications available to you.
1. Use Zinio Check for New Deliveries to Login
To login to the Zinio system, first go to Start > All Programs > Zinio > Check for New Delivieries.
2. Accept the License Agreement
When the license agreement dialog box appears, click Yes.
3. Enter Zinio Account Information
When the Zinio Delivery Manager dialog box appears prompting you for your account information, enter the information from the SALA Digital Journals Subscription Card (get this from Wendy in the Reading Room).
4. Zinio Delivery Manager
The Delivery Manager will open and indicate that "All of your publications have been downloaded." You are now authenticated in the Zinio System.
5. Open the Digital Journals Folder on the Desktop
On the desktop of the computer, find the Digital Journals folder and double-click to open.
6. If necessary, login to the SOA server.
Occasionally, the Slide Scanner computer station will become disconnected from the SOA server. If upon clicking on the Digital Journals folder you are prompted with the dialog box shown here, enter your architecture school login as you would at the workstations in the third floor studio, but using the specific format for the username as shown below:
Username: soa.local\yourusername
Password: yourpassword
7. Open the folder with the Journal you wish to read
Once you are logged in, you will be able to view the contents of the Digital Journals folder. Click on the title of the Journal you wish to read, then double-click on the issue you would like to browse. This will launch the Zinio Reader application, which will allow you to read through the selected issue.
