WORKSHOP
On the lower floor of the Lasserre Building are the workshop facilities. A comprehensive joinery shop, a 3D printer, a laser cutter and a CNC routing machine provide a compliment of equipment regularly available to all students in the Architecture programme. As well, these support facilities provide a focus to particular design studio and course requirements on an 'as-needed' basis. After an orientation and purchase of accident insurance, students and faculty are free to use the workshop, with instruction being provided according to users needs. In addition, certain tools are available for overnight or weekend loan. Nick Scott, the shop technician is available with advice and assistance.
Facilities:
1. A machine room available during office hours (room 2) and supervised by the technician.
2. An assembly room available at all hours (room 4).
3. A room to house the CNC machine (room 4a).
4. Enclosed alcoves to house the 3D printer (within room 4) and the laser cutter (room 302).

Materials for Sale:
The workshop sells some basic materials for the convenience of students. Stock includes Baltic birch plywood, basswood, formaldehyde-free MDF, and acrylic in various thicknesses. In addition polyurethane foam for CNC milling is available in various sizes. Prices are posted in the shop and in the display case outside the shop.

The hours are currently:
8:30am – noon and 1:00pm – 8:30pm - Monday through Thursday
8:30am - noon and 1:00pm - 4:30pm - Friday
noon – 4:00pm - Saturday and Sunday

- The shop has a wide variety of portable electric tools, including drills, sanders, routers, saws etc. There is also a complete selection of hand tools. We have recently upgraded both the dust extraction and electrical systems.
