Description
The first course in the architectural technology sequence introduces the role of technology in architecture with a strong emphasis on the integration of the various systems that make up a building during the design process. While focusing on North American light wood framing, the course also explores other building systems based on different materials and techniques.
You will gain an understanding of the building systems and materials used in modern-day construction, their history, and their properties. You will also learn to create building assemblies and apply building science to the performance of building enclosures. In addition, you will become familiar with the application of Canadian regulations governing construction, in particular the intent of zoning and development bylaws and building codes.
