Description

This course looks at urban design through the lens of cultural and economic history. You will gain familiarity with the history of urban design and its relationship to architecture and planning in a number of international cities. With fellow students, you will work on case study research projects with the goal of putting contemporary ideas about urban design into historical and theoretical context. By the end of the course, you will be able to understand different shifts in urban design paradigms, and have a sense of how these trends connect to a contemporary global context.
