Book chronicling 70 years of the architecture program now available
Good Times: 70 Years of Architecture at the West Coast School is a survey of the past seven decades of the architecture program at UBC, told by professors emeriti Ray Cole and Sherry McKay. The name is taken from the long-standing SALA tradition of Friday night Good Times, where studio work is put on hold and students can unwind. The book follows architecture at UBC from its inception as the Department of Architecture in 1946 to its current iteration as part of the School of Architecture + Landscape Architecture.
A launch event for the book served as a reunion for several decades of alumni. Gathering in the studio on the third floor of Lasserre, Dr. Cole delivered a presentation spanning the history of the architecture program, reflecting on the changes in architectural education over the years, and the west coast spirit that remains integral to the school.
Good Times is also available at Vancouver Special, 3612 Main St., Vancouver https://www.vanspecial.com/.
