Master of Architecture and Master of Landscape Architecture student Quinlan Bundschuh has received a Graduate Student Award through the 2026 Peter Wall Legacy Awards.
Made possible by an extraordinary gift from Dr. Peter Wall, the awards support students and faculty taking on the major sustainability challenges facing both British Columbia and the rest of the world. The recognized projects focus on urban sustainability, environmental protection of coastal areas and sustainable approaches to resource-intensive industries.
Bundschuh received a research award of $25,000 for Design Strategies for British Columbia’s Wildland-Urban Interface. The project aims to develop design strategies for architects and landscape architects that promote fire-adapted urbanization in communities at high risk of wildfire activity. Bundschuh will examine the relationships between wildfire risk, settlement patterns and socioeconomic patterns affecting housing, with a focus on the wildland-urban interface.
