GAA | Robotically fabricated self forming double curved structures
Overview of duties
The position will be to:
- assist with the grasshopper programming
- assist with fabrication tests at different scales on the laser cutter, CNC, and industrial robot both at SALA and CAWP (Centre of Advanced Wood Processing)
- produce diagrams outlining the principals and geometry of the testing
Outcomes will be to:
- Produce a series of prototypes that experiment with jointing and processes of self forming.
- Express the principles of the study through drawings and/or 3d models which document the above studies and what has been learned about the processes and the material limitations.
Qualifications
Current MArch student with excellent design and representation skills as well as excellent oral and verbal communications, problem solving, critical thinking, and design synthesis skills. Skills in grasshopper and digital fabrication and/or robotic fabrication are required. Experience with laser cutter operation and/or demonstrated experience with prototyping would also be valuable.
