GAA | Wood Fibre Insulation Research Assistant
Overview of duties
There is one position available for a research assistant who will help with research tasks related to an ongoing project on wood fibre insulation made from construction and demolition wood waste bound with a bio-based adhesive. Responsibilities include assisting with wood fibre insulation sample preparation, preparing figures/illustrations for publications, collating research for manufacturing process development. The work environment is hybrid with research and graphics work to be done remotely and sample preparation done in-person. In-person work will be at UBC campus either in SALA workshop/assembly spaces or in a lab in Forestry (successful applicant will need to complete UBC Forestry safety onboarding). Lab experience is an asset but not required as the full process for preparing wood fibre insulation samples—including necessary safety precautions—will be explained in detail and supervised. All necessary training and PPE will be provided.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with excellent graphics skills in illustrator/indesign/photoshop (or equivalent), and who is detail-oriented, a good communicator, and comfortable doing some independent research. The position is open to all SALA students.
