You do not need to apply for these awards. A committee in each program, at times in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, determines the recipients based on merit. See scholarships and awards you can apply for.

Abraham Rogatnick Book Prize

The Abraham Rogatnick Book Prize recognizes the most creative and poetic graduate project. If carried out, it should most enrich the environment and inspire the spiritual lives of the people in it.

Alpha Rho Chi Medal

The Alpha Rho Chi Medal honours a Master of Architecture student who has served the school, shown leadership ability, and promises professional merit.  

Architectural Institute of British Columbia Prize

The AIBC Prize goes to a graduating student who, based on academic and design work, promises to contribute to the profession.

Architectural Institute of British Columbia Scholarship

AIBC Scholarships recognize students with high academic standing who have improved their design skills.

Architecture Canada Honour Roll

The Architecture Canada Honour Roll recognizes up to four students in the top 10 per cent of their graduating class. The top student also receives the Student Medal.

Architecture Canada Student Medal

The Master of Architecture student with the highest grades or best graduate project receives this medal.

Arthur Hullah and Dorothy Cleveland Memorial Scholarship

The Arthur Hullah and Dorothy Cleveland Memorial Scholarships support BC resident. The award prefers those studying West Coast design or the use of West Coast materials in design.

Beans Justice Memorial Scholarship

The Beans Justice Memorial Scholarship recognizes design that with humour and keen insight appreciates the spirit of place and all things natural.

Brissenden Scholarship in Architecture

The Brissenden Scholarship supports a graduate project on historic building restoration, rehabilitation, or re-use.

Bryce Rositch Entrance Award in Architecture

The Bryce Rositch Entrance Awards recognize students’ undergraduate work in community building and global citizenship.

Canadian Architect Student Awards of Excellence

The Student Awards of Excellence recognize exceptional graduate projects by Canadian architecture students.

Canadian Institute of Steel Construction Award in Architecture

Canadian Institute of Steel Construction Awards recognize design projects using structural steel in innovative ways.

CEI Master of Architecture Scholarship

The CEI Master of Architecture Scholarship recognizes exceptional skills in refining architectural plans and details. 

Chernoff Thompson Science Scholarship in Architecture

Chernoff Thompson Science Scholarships support continuing students. The award prefers those showing scientific rigour in their studies. Criteria include structured research and design from first principles.  

Concord Erickson Energy and Architecture Fellowship

Concord Erickson Energy and Architecture Fellowships recognize innovative research in sustainable design principles that reduce the impact of the human footprint on the environment.

Dialog Scholarship in Urban Design

The Dialog Scholarship prefers a third-year student who has shown excellence in urban design.

Emaar Canada Graduate Entrance Scholarship in Architecture

The scholarship recognizes a student in the top 10 per cent of accepted applicants for showing initiative in understanding the practice of architecture.

Ernest Annau Scholarship for Architecture

The Ernest Annau Scholarship supports one Canadian Master of Architecture student’s formal study abroad.

The HCMA Architecture + Design Scholarship prefers a third-year student with a strong understanding of architecture as it relates to its regional context at an urban design level.

Henry Adams Medal

The highest-ranking graduating Master of Architecture student receives the Henry Adams Medal. The Architectural Institute of America sponsors this award.

John Gaitanakis Prize in Architecture

The John Gaitanakis Prize recognizes a design project that focuses on ecological concerns in the urban environment. 

Joyce Lewison and Anne Lewison Travel Scholarship in Architecture

Kasian Architecture Interior Design and Planning Scholarship
