The New Vancouver Art Gallery
Jérémie Dussault-Lefebvre and Ryder Talheimer
What are the components of an art gallery? What are the implications and potentials induced by the construction of a new art gallery? What is possible in a new art gallery?
Creating a gallery is a process of exploration. The new Vancouver Art Gallery is seen as a performance. Different mises en scène, manifold choreographies generating new spaces. Social, by the non-hierarchy of spaces. A place of adjacencies, physical, and psychological. Focus on its role beyond the display space. A series of rooms created by the wall from which emerges connection, transit, questions, surprises. The art gallery is an object in constant transit, with matrice components that allows for it to happen.
