GTA | DES 402/403: Design Studio VI/Sr Project

Winter 2025 term 2 Up to 4 open positions 150 hours total, approximately 11.5 hours per week at $38.65/hour

Overview of duties

DES 402 – The ideal candidate will be a strong design thinker with a proven ability to work iteratively and imaginatively. The primary tasks of the GTA will be one-on-one desk crits with students, review work in pin-ups and discussions, give tutorials on drawing and model-building methods, field questions from students via email and other modes of communication, and organize logistics. Class attendance is required, so ensure you can be in studio all-day Mondays and Thursday afternoons, before applying.

Qualifications

SALA students heading into final year of MArch, MLA, MARCLA with prior studio TA experience preferred. MASA or MASLA students if have prior studio TA experience.
• Ability to effectively communicate with instructor and students (both verbal and written)
• Patience and precision in explaining course material and technical tools to facilitate student learning
• Mastery of foundational design principles, critical thinking, and creative problem solving
• Ability to relay information in a concise and organized manner
• Effective and logical planner that displays good team building skills
• Strong digital and analog drawing and modeling skills
• Possesses knowledge of Vancouver from previous studies
• Demonstrates ability to think across scales in portfolio sample.
