In hopes to diminish the sense of grief and remorse following loss, this project brings individuals and families together to maximize time and the opportunities for connection prior to one’s passing. A continuously looping and bifurcating pathway connects individuals to the buildings and landscape, creating formal spaces encouraging an intimate, private exchange – a preemptive goodbye – and casual moments of exchange with others in the community. Different types of connection are facilitated through variances in openness (high kinetic activity) and enclosure (static equilibrium) within the topography, vegetation, and built form. The drawings depict the site through the lens of Holly, as her time with her grandma is coming to a fleeting end. Interactions with her grandma are imbued within the site. Memories permeate the intimate pathways and dwelling spaces. This becomes Holly’s World.
