GTA | ARCH 543: Contemporary practice
Overview of duties
Provide consultation to students for clarification of delivered course content, assignment preparation, and review of submissions with feedback only (no grading). Support with leadership and coordination of student breakout group discussions in class. Host two 1.75-hour discussion/working sessions per week, some or all of which will be evening sessions to accommodate asynchronous schedule from students all over the world. Please note that this offer is contingent upon your eligibility to be employed as a student worker at the University of British Columbia. If you become aware that you are not eligible, please notify us immediately and the position will be reassigned.
Qualifications
Current MArch, MASA, MASLA, or PhD students. MArch student applicants are recommended to have completed (or are currently enrolled in) ARCH 541 Professional Practice. Applicants with significant experience working in an architectural or design practice preferred. Ability to help students actively learn. Ability to explain subject matter clearly and logically. Ability to effectively lead discussion sessions that facilitate student learning. Ability to effectively assist student learning by enabling different sets of skills, including oral and verbal communications, problem solving, critical thinking, and design synthesis. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Supportive, compassionate and patient approach with student learning.
