GTA | LARC 504: Regional Studio GIS Workshop
Overview of duties
Plan and deliver an introduction to ArcMap and GIS for landscape architecture students in an accessible and comprehensive manner. Topics covered should include an introduction to the software, including installation, accessing datasets, understanding projections, and basic shapefile manipulations. Other topics covered should include work flow and data management, such as working between ArcMap and Rhino and Adobe CC. Exact topics will be discussed and planned with LARC 504 instructors.
Qualifications
The GTA should have a comprehensive knowledge of ArcGIS, awareness of open source GIS software, knowledge of how to access public GIS data about the Lower Mainland, experience using GIS for landscape architectural projects, interest in GIS as a research and representational tool, including using GIS in tandem with other visualization software, interest in planning workshop tutorials, and patience in delivering new technical material to students.

Friday, September 6: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Prep on own time, plus 1 one-hour coordinating meeting with instructors
