GTA | LARC 515: Planting design

Summer 2024 Up to 2 open positions 168 hours total, 12 hours per week at $37.53/hour

Overview of duties

Assist with preparing and organizing course materials; set up Canvas course page prior to the course starting date; attend online lectures; monitor online discussions during lectures and answer questions; facilitate asynchronous online post interactions; help students with technical difficulties; provide detailed marking and feedback information for assessments; share experience and plant knowledge for ecologically inspired selection criteria; offer consultation on course themes.

Qualifications

Must have flexibility and resourcefulness to deal with new and changing situations and tasks. Ability to show patience in working with students learning new software, and communicate effectively in full online class or one-on-one situations. Mastery of the course academic material. Ability to help students actively learn in a digital environment. Ability to explain subject matter clearly and logically. Ability to effectively lead tutorial sessions that facilitate student learning using Canvas and CAD software. Ability to effectively assist student learning by enabling different sets of skills, including oral and verbal communications, problem solving, critical thinking, numeracy and design synthesis. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Supportive, compassionate and patient approach with student learning. Candidates with plant knowledge and experience in online learning preferred.
