Overview of duties

elementsLab is an applied urban design and environment research group in the School of
Architecture + Landscape Architecture and the Centre for Interactive Research in Sustainability
at the University of British Columbia. We emphasize methods of measured visualization for urban design to elevate urban sustainability. The lab is seeking a student to provide administrative and graphic assistance.

Duties include working closely with faculty to:
• Update the lab website using WordPress
• Create graphics, including posters for lab space and miscellaneous graphics
• Organize the lab space, including reducing unused reference materials and equipment

elementsLab is Co-Directed by Professors Ronald Kellett and Cynthia Girling, School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. The student will have a work space in the elementsLab in the Centre for Interactive Research on Sustainability (CIRS) and will be supervised by the lab directors.

Qualifications

This is an undergraduate academic assistant position. This position will require a rigorous,
organized, detail-oriented student with an interest in the visualization of urban form. Specific
background and skills needed include:
1. Strong interest in sustainability of the built environment.
2. Strong skills with urban design related graphic and publishing tools (Adobe CS)
3. Working knowledge of WordPress software is an advantage
4. Willingness to work on a mix of tasks and an ability to manage time
