SALA is pleased to announce the Dr. Sherry McKay Graduate Scholarship in Architectural History. Made available through an endowment established by Dr. McKay, the scholarship will be awarded beginning this academic year. The scholarship acknowledges outstanding students entering their final year of study in the Master of Architecture program who have demonstrated critical, imaginative engagement with architectural history and its theoretical, social or cultural considerations. Students will be recommended for the scholarship by SALA faculty, in consultation with the UBC Faculty of Graduate + Postdoctoral Studies.
Dr. McKay is a SALA Associate Professor Emerita and previous chair of the Master of Architecture program. She taught courses in architectural history and theory, receiving a Killam Teaching Award in 1999. Her research interests included French colonial and post-colonial architecture and West Coast modern architecture.
