GTA | DES 302: Design Studio IV *Landscape Architecture focused
Overview of duties
This studio is Landscape-based so preference to an MLA, MASLA or MARCLA student. The ideal candidate will be a strong design thinker with a proven ability to work iteratively and imaginatively. The primary tasks of the GTA will be one-on-one desk crits with students, review work in pin-ups and discussions, field questions from students via email and other modes of communication, and organize logistics. Attendance is preferred at all 3 studio sessions, but if you have a conflict on Mondays, attending either the morning or afternoon session and Thursday’s session of class will be considered adequate attendance.
Qualifications
Current enrollment in the MLA, MASLA or MARCLA program. MArch students can apply if they have substantial landscape knowledge.
• Ability to effectively communicate with instructor and students (both verbal and written)
• Patience and precision in explaining course material and technical tools to facilitate student learning
• Mastery of foundational design principles, critical thinking, and creative problem solving
• Ability to relay information in a concise and organized manner
• Effective and logical planner that displays good team building skills
• Strong digital and analog drawing and modeling skills
• Possesses knowledge of Vancouver from previous studies
• Demonstrates ability to think across scales in portfolio sample
