The last design studio explores urban design at the block level. Whereas the first two studios addressed real-world issues working with local community partnerships, in the final design studio, you will have the opportunity to work on urban design issues in emerging economies in different parts of the world.
In this studio, you will critically analyze neighbourhood-scale systems of block, network, parcel, and building typologies. You will develop an understanding of the interaction of these component systems, as well as the evolution of building and block types and their relationship to cultural and economic development issues. You will apply urban design theory as a means to generate a comprehensive three-dimensional solution to a case study problem.
