Associate Professor Joe Dahmen recently spoke to CBC about his research on mycelium, an innovative material grown from fungi. The story highlights his projects Mycelium Mockup and They Grow Without Us, which both used the root structures of oyster mushrooms to create solid materials. These project were created through his design studio with Amber Frid-Jimenez, AFJD.

“As architects and designers, we were really interested in the idea of a material that might aggregate and continue to grow once it was in the shape or form of whatever it was we were designing to,” said Dahmen.
