Finalist for the Future Park Competition Fionn Byrne, assistant professor of Landscape Architecture, has been selected as a finalist in the Future Park International Design Competition, presented by the University of Melbourne, in partnership with Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA). The competition drew 123 entries from 20 countries and was reviewed by an international jury that included Jacky Bowring and Julia Czerniak. The idea competition asked landscape architects, urban designers, architects and planners to envision new park possibilities for the future of Melbourne. Fionn’s proposal, Continuous Ground, called for the creation of two reciprocal landscapes. A city center park which reflects on Melbourne’s history and a new park on the periphery of the city which directs growth and constructs community around a shared landscape. The proposal was exhibited at the Dulux Gallery, University of Melbourne, October 4th to November 1st.
